October 2016 Church Cabinet Recap

Cabinet showed some impressive flexibilty this month by meeting on a Tuesday night to keep Thursday free for MEA travelers and busy weekends.  We were led by Pete Bernard (moderator), and attendees included Pastor Eliot, Connie Martin (Trustees), Mike Rolek (Membership & Growth), Dave Wilson (Diaconate), and Lorna Wilson (assistant moderator). CE and outreach did not have representatives present, but provided updates to the group.

We had a short discussion on our financial summary, which you all also shared in last week thanks to a write up in the Linden Tree by Barb Jeffries.  We also discussed a near-term timeline to use existing Step Up and grant funds to update the sound system in the sanctuary.  Thanks so much to Andy Roy, Connie Martin, Pete Bernard, and Lawrence Richardson for doing this legwork for all our benefit.

The short summary to the rest of the meeting is that there are a LOT of great programs coming up you’ll want to save dates for.

Oct 30 - Nov 20 is Stewardship season.  We will celebrate the intake of pledges to support LHUCC in the coming year on November 20.  Stewardship is led by Doug Belden this year, with support from Lorna Wilson, Pastor Eliot, and a number of people we’re hoping will pitch in along the way.

Simply Jane/ArtAble has two events for us:  a fundraiser on November 11, and a pizza and art party for LHUCC on Dec 11.  Plan to attend both!

Saturday, November 12 is the annual Trivia Night and silent auction, planned once again by the Hackerson family.  Make sure not to miss this one, and bring along some friends. This is a fun fun fun church and community event.

Sunday November 13 - During Coffee Hour after church, our renewal guiding team will be updating the congregation on the progress of our activities and goals regarding the work we’ve been doing with the Center for Progressive Renewal this past 10 months.

The Parent Baby Toddler group is planning a new storytime evening on Friday, November. 18.  Bring your little ones and invite their friends to this cuteness-overload social event.
